Calling all Creators, Artists, and Makers:

Market Street Arts is expanding our public arts programming with a series of grants inviting folks to come Make it! on Market. We’re calling on crafters, painters, sculptors, woodworkers, planters, jewelers, and any other makers to bring their art to the Mid-Market community on the sidewalks of Market Street.

Makers are asked to create an engaging public activity reflecting their art to invite the neighborhood to stop by and try. The program aims to bring arts directly to the streets, creating '“surprise and delight” moments for passersby and spurring spontaneous creativity.

Grant amounts from $500 to $5,000 allow artists to cover costs of materials and take home projects while also being paid for their time creating an exciting experience for community members and visitors alike. Artists can propose anything from a single occurrence to an ongoing series of engagements, and request an appropriate grant allotment accordingly. Special attention will be given to proposals that include support of, or partnership with, a Mid Market business or organization although it is not required. Artists can also showcase their work along with their activity and invite the attendees to learn more.
